Equity in Education Summit Series – Part II

On October 14, 2021, CAS, in partnership with the CSDE and SERC, hosted the second in a series of summits on educational equity. This half-day professional learning event focused on the theme of “Inclusive Excellence” and featured acclaimed speaker and author Principal Baruti Kafele. The school spotlight segment, “A School Administrator’s Journey Toward Inclusive Excellence,” included a panel of CT practitioners who shared successful strategies for engaging with diverse perspectives and maximizing the success and inclusion of all students. Interspersed in the program were six student videos showcasing the powerful voices of students across Connecticut; a message from CT Kid Governor Reese Naughton; and a tribute to Spanish Heritage Month featuring students from Meriden. The full summit is available to view in its entirety. Or, select individual components to watch at your leisure (click on the corresponding thumbnail below). Be sure to catch Ingrid Canady, executive director of the State Education Resource Center, who kicked off the event with her passionate and compelling opening remarks!
