K-12 Contact Tracing Supports
Contact tracing is used by health departments to prevent the spread of infectious disease. For Covid-19, contact tracing involves identifying people who have tested positive for Covid-19 (cases) and their contacts (people who have been within 6 feet of the case during their infectious period (2 days prior to specimen collection date or 2 days prior to symptom onset)) for more than 15 minutes in a 24 hour period, and working with them to interrupt disease transmission. This includes asking cases to isolate and contacts to quarantine at home, voluntarily.

We are inviting you to play a vital role in this important public health intervention.

The Connecticut State Department of Education in collaboration with the Department of Public Health, and The Connecticut Association of Schools, is looking for experienced educators who are looking to be a part of the state’s Covid-19 response to support schools. Educators will be connected with districts in need of increased capacity.

Public health staff will interview cases. If a case is found to have attended a school as a student, staff or faculty member during their infectious period, schools are asked to identify and notify the contacts and provide direction around quarantining.  We are looking for assistance in reaching out to these school-based contacts, providing them with education, information, and support to help them understand their risk, what they should do to separate themselves from others who have not been exposed, and how to monitor themselves for illness.

Please indicate your interest in this program by completing the questionnaire below and we will be in contact with you soon. Thank you very much!
