#4 – Lewis Mills boys soccer beats the clock for dramatic state title win

Soccer is not really a sport often associated with buzzer beaters. The nature of the running clock and when it starts and stops leads to the sport being a little more fungible with its timekeeping. Yet there was no question time was running short in the Class M final between Lewis Mills and Suffield with the score knotted at two. Then came a magical moment as a series of passes ended with the ball at Dylan McCall’s foot. Sure, it didn’t literally beat the buzzer when his shot nestled into the back of the net, but it was close enough to give the game an incredibly dramatic finish and end two decades of tournament frustration and heartbreak for Lewis Mills. Buzzer beater or not, that’s quite a championship moment, and surely one that will be hard to forget.
